About
This is a completely unofficial web site dedicated to Reddy Kilowatt. It features history, memorabilia, items for sale and more. Please note that
I can’t/don’t/won’t estimate the value of any of your Reddy collectibles. Seriously. Ever. Try looking at the going price at
eBay or at other antique dealers if you want to find out how much any particular Reddy Kilowatt item might be worth. More
about Reddy.
I was waxing nostalgic the other night, and happened upon this site. I noticed that you had a lot of postings, so I thought I’d write. I worked for Reddy Kilowatt in NYC in the early 70’s, and actually replaced the artist who had drawn him for about 30 years, a guy named Charlie Bader. Ash Collins Sr., who everyone called “senior” was there every day, a small, seemingly fragile man. His son, Ash Jr. was at the helm. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize how iconic the image would become, or I would have kept some of the art (all done with pen and ink). I left after about a year and a half, as drawing the same thing over and over didn’t appeal to me. Just thought I’d give you a little piece of history.
Thanks, Bonnie!
