Here’s what happens when you send the same photo to 25 different Fiverr portrait artists. All I asked was that the drawing be square and that they please remove the iPhone seen in the original image. You can view the results larger on Flickr.

Lots of these folks did an amazing job for just $5, but I want to point out ralucush in particular, whose image (B1 on the grid, slide three above) is seriously high quality.
If I ever want to change my avatar (unlikely), at least I have a lot of choices.
