Finding the right camera might be the most difficult part of digital photography.
  • Resolution: 3 megapixel (2048x1536 and lower. Uncommon now, can make OK prints up to 8x10); 4-6 megapixel (presently the most common); 7-8 (high-end consumer cameras, including D-SLRs); 10+ megapixel (the current top of the line)
  • Features: Image stablization (helps reduce blurriness at slow shutter speeds); Optical zoom (digital zoom is useless); Shooting modes (a variety of options for different situations); Video capability; Wireless connectivity; Durability and weather resistance
