  BASICS: USING FLASH
Most on-camera flashes are direct, harsh and cheap. But they do light up the dark.
  • Use sparingly — can create ugly shadows
  • Usually makes the subject really bright but creates a dark background
  • Only useful for a few feet
  • Try the "Slow-synchro" flash setting (a long exposure with flash — tries to balance a dark background with the bright flash exposure of your main subject)
