I had passed up the chance to see a 350-year-old oak tree a few miles back — the State Champion Bur Oak Tree, mind you. It's humbling to think that that tree was here before there was a country called the United States. And that tree will outlive you and me. The tree's real name is Quercus macrocarpa.
