Photo 48 of 100 :: Day 2, Friday, 3 May 2002 I was able to get right down to the river's edge and relax for a few minutes. I had passed up the chance to see a 350-year-old oak tree a few miles back — the State Champion Bur Oak Tree, mind you. It's humbling to think that that tree was here before there was a country called the United States. And that tree will outlive you and me. The tree's real name is Quercus macrocarpa. |
