Photo 27 of 100 :: Day 1, Thursday, 2 May 2002 The inscription says: “100 feet west of this spot the site where stood the building in Franklin in which was published THE MISSOURI INTELLIGENCER and BOON'S LICK ADVERTISER by Nathaniel Patten & Benjamin Holliday[.] The first number was issued April 23 1819. It was the first newspaper printed in Missouri west of St. Louis and was Missouri's Pioneer Country Newspaper[.] This monument was erected and dedicated by the MISSOURI PRESS ASSOCIATION May 19, 1919[.]” |
