I ate a turkey & cheese panini for lunch. It was good. Here are a few not-so-good sandwiches courtesy of the HuffPo: 9 Sandwich FAILS In Honor Of National Sandwich Day.

It’s National Sandwich Day, everybody, the most delicious day of the year. Unless, of course, you find yourself saddled with one of these losers.
We’re particular about our sandwiches. It’s got to look like a sandwich, it has to be filled with yummy, complimentary ingredients while remaining mouth-sized, and most importantly, it can’t be an affront to God and man alike.
All of these sandwiches fail that simple test. Do not seek them out, do not make them on your own. You have been warned.
Exercise your rights!

I have to say, there’s no better time than now to get to work on crafting a killer sandwich. Not only does National Sandwich Month start today, but Mezzetta is holding a contest where you could win $25,000 US. Seriously. That’s a lot of dough for making something doughy and delicious that you probably would have made anyway. I mean c’mon — finalists get $1K!
I think the crew here at I♥S is going to enter this year And we’ve got a whole month to test out recipes. So do you.
Cheers,

The corned beef sandwich that went to space
June 15th, 2009 • Pure sandwich love
Did you know that a corned beef sandwich was the object of (mild, for NASA) controversy during the 1965 Gemini III flight?
“The crew of Gemini III snuck a corned beef sandwich on their spaceflight. Mission Commander Gus Grissom loved corned beef sandwiches, so Pilot John Young brought one along, having been encouraged by fellow astronaut Walter Schirra. However, Young was supposed to only eat approved food, and Grissom wasn’t supposed to eat anything. Floating pieces of bread posed a potential problem, causing Grissom to put the sandwich away (although he did enjoy it) and the astronauts were mildly rebuked by NASA for the act. A congressional hearing was called, forcing the NASA deputy administrator George Mueller to promise no repeats. NASA took special care about what astronauts brought along on future missions.”
