And that’s that. The end of National Sandwich Month, 2007.

This delicious beauty — the thit nuong — is from Banh Mi So #1 Saigon Gourmet in South Grand. It was really good — a great finale. But next time, when they ask me if I want “extra beef,” I will say yes. It was good, but it really needed more beef.

Regardless, this is one of my new favorite sandwiches — plus you can’t help but love the name of the joint: Banh Mi So #1 Saigon Gourmet!

And here’s the whole month’s worth of sandwiches on Flickr.

#40: Pork steak sandwich, NSM|2007

So, they only serve pork steaks on a plate at The Old Rock House. But I was like, “Could I have a pork steak as a sandwich?” And like a smart, customer-oriented place, she said, “Yes.” Then I ate it. YUM! Best pork steak ever.

Grilled veggie sandwich on baguette from Joanie’s in Soulard.

Dan Zettwoch takes the first hunk from the circular deli sandwich at the Saratoga Lanes‘ summer league banquet night (where our team, the Handsome Brothers, took home the first place gold pin!).

Wow — Sunday evening Diane made a delicious cucumber and goat cheese sandwich on Armenian bread along with a tapas dinner. The family watched America’s Funniest Home Videos which made it a perfect evening.

#33: Barbeque chicken, NSM|2007

Working on my next book in the classy, cozy confines of The Royale. Had the bbq chicken sandwich lunch special and enjoyed it very much, thank you.

#32: Peanut butter/banana/honey, NSM|2007

Eaten in the classic midnight snack fashion.
