Mr. Lash

Thursday, August 31st, 2000

Jeff Lash: Mr. Lash has been teaching ESL for 5 years in the United States, Korea and Morocco. He speaks French, Arabic, and passable Spanish. Playing guitar, watching the Simpsons, eating spicy food and reading Dickens all make him happy, but his wife Salima is his greatest joy. He likes teaching middle school because of the energy.” (Not the best picture of me, on right.)

Yeah. This is what yer missing…

Thursday, August 17th, 2000

Yeah. This is what yer missing… “When man first began to explore space, people began to experiment with rocketry. They started building rockets with bits and pieces in their basements. Soon they wanted the rockets to fly and were mixing chemicals to create engines. These experiments were sometimes dangerous and produced inconsistent results. In 1958, Vern Estes (pronounced Est´-is) developed a machine that could mass-produce a solid propellant model rocket engine. This invention gave people a consistent and reliable way to fly their rockets. Later, Vern and his wife Gleda, branched out into the mass production of balsa nose cones and adapters for model rockets. In 1960, they began selling model rockets by mail. In 1961, due to a steady increase in orders, Vern Estes moved the company to a 77-acre tract of land on the outskirts of Penrose. Rapid growth followed and soon Penrose became known as the “Model Rocket Capital of the World”. Estes Industries became and remains to this day, the world leader in model rocketry, celebrating over 40 years of service.”

Can you explain why girls are so crazy?

Friday, August 4th, 2000

Robot: “Indy (rock) Pete, can you explain why girls are so crazy?”
Pete: “How would I know about girls? I am a rocker. I rock out.”

This is too good to be true. Read more. (Indy Rock Pete reminds me strangely of a cross between Brian Kaas, Ted May, and Will Horton.)
