NOTE

I don’t really use the blog section so much. Most of my posts here are projects and they’re all listed on the home page, in order of most recent.

OTHER NEWNESS

I spoke at TEDxVienna 2022 on how to find attention, mindfulness, and creativity in the everyday.

Pair of Jacks are Wild

Pair of Jacks are Wild (Torrance v. Skellington)

Ink on paper, 16×21.5” each

$99 each, or both for $150

Jack Torrance, from the 1980 film “The Shining” and based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel of the same name, and Jack Skellington, Pumpkin King in Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” movie (1993), meet in a most tedious way—one letter at a time.

Torrance was typed, remarkably poorly I might add, on a handsome but uncooperative ‘40s-era Royal ‘Quiet De Luxe’ typewriter. Skellington was inked by hand with a bit more finesse, using small, cheap, inconvenient rubber stamps. Both pictures, predictably, are made up of quotes: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” and “What have I done? Everything’s gone all wrong!”

Indeed.

Created for the annual Famous Fictional exhibit at Mad Art Gallery, St. Louis, Mo.

Happy to be part of this again—I just couldn’t motivate myself to participate last year, the only time since 2013 that I haven’t.

The opening is Friday, 15 Nov 2019.
